His body language just changed: Michael Vaughan

The flamboyant commentator Vaughan felt that Indian skipper is a completely unique batsman now. Vaughan was awestruck by Kohli’s calibre to find those gaps and the way he mustered those runs.

Vaughan went on to say that Kohli has a different approach and change in body language. The Three Lions veteran highlighted Kohli’s incredible ability to find gaps against a moving ball.

“Virat has found confidence. It was an incredible innings. He probably realised when the seventh wicket fell, every time he goes out to bat, that the shoulders of the whole team are with him. The way he manoeuvred the ball into the gaps, the way that he played at the swinging ball, he hung in there, hung in there and got about 57,” the former England captain said.

“His body language just changed, he knows that he has to try and hit the boundary. He hit the ball through mid-wicket off Sam Curran that raced to the boundary and took him into the 60s and I thought ‘wait a minute, there’s a bit of a danger here’. If one of the tail-enders can hang around, you know there’s going to be an issue.”

When it is his Kohli’s day, you just need to sit back and admire: Vaughan

The classic cricketer Vaughan went on to admire Kohli’s gutsy knock. He also spoke about the tactical field changes by Joe Root while Virat Kohli is battling out with tail-enders.

England Vs India: A treat for many fans

Michael Vaughan feels that when the day belongs to Virat Kohli. It is better to sit back and enjoy his artistic strokes.

“Wonderful batting. Tactically, you look at England and people will say ‘why didn’t they spread the field’. It’s so difficult as a captain to know what to do. Do you go short, do you go wide? And if you bring the field up, he could hit more boundaries. A doff of the hat is sometimes that you can do as an opponent and when it is his (Kohli’s) day, you just need to sit back and admire,” he added.

All in all, Virat Kohli answered all the critics in his own style. He smashed all the scenes of 2014 tour with a single knock of 149 right in his first innings.
