When it comes to chasing a target particularly in the low-scoring matches they turn out to be thrillers reveals the statistics over the years. The Edgbaston Test between India and England added one more nail to this coffin of thought. The former Indian seamer, Venkatesh Prasad has been nostalgic when asked about the same after witnessing England vs India 2018 Test opener which kicked off on August 1st in Birmingham.

Low scoring games are slippery. It catches one in a dilemma whether to build your innings in the beginning or play fearless cricket from the start.

Eventually, the pressure mounts when the chasing team thinks that they have everything to lose whereas, it is vice-versa in the opposite dugout.

The former Indian pacer, Prasad went through an anecdote that took place in Barbados Test against Windies in 1997. In that very match, India was pursuing just 120, and the team was astonishingly rattled for 81 by Windies bowlers.

When it comes to former Indian seamer Prasad, he had a good outing. He bamboozled eight wickets, but unfortunately, he was on the wrong side when result mattered the most.

In a conversation with the Speedster, the former seamer said,

“The pitch played difficult from the end where (Curtly) Ambrose was bowling. There was a spot. Some balls climbed while others shot through.”

Prasad said, “We should have attacked from the other end, the one from where Ambrose was not bowling. We had a strong batting side but missed a trick and paid the price.”

In the present condition, Prasad believes that India badly needs a fearless opening batsman like Virender Sehwag. He thinks that an aggressive batsman can disrupt any bowling plans and force the captain to spread the field.

The former paceman thinks that India relies too much on Kohli. He feels that other members need to come forward to support his cause.

Besides this, Venkatesh Prasad lauded the efforts of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma with the ball during England vs India 2018 Test encounter at Edgbaston.

“Despite the defeat, Kohli’s form and the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma augured well for India. The team needs to keep the belief.” Prasad said.
