England against visitors India started the second session on 304 for eight. Stuart Broad started with a four and then went for a big six. However, he mistimed the ball of Ravindra Jadeja, and it was a brilliant catch by KL Rahul in the outfield.
Jadeja also dismissed Jos Buttler on the score of 89. He went for an expansive drive and was caught brilliantly by Ajinkya Rahane at the first slip.
Well, it was a brilliant performance by Jadeja, who bagged four wickets in his comeback Test at The Oval in London. The score of 332 would have surely given a lot of confidence to the visiting team.
Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul started off proceedings. Dhawan fails early yet again of the bowling of Stuart Broad. It was a delivery well outside the off stump.
India starts well:
He wanted to defend away from his body and was struck right in front of the stumps. The southpaw was given out on the field. He decided to go for the review in the end but ran out of time.
From there on, it was a good partnership between Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujrara which got India back on track.
Rahul began with an attacking approach. He played some beautiful shots and raced his way to 27.
Pujara was also impressive in his approach and was hardly troubled by the Indian bowlers.
India went to tea on 52 for one. They will surely want to finish the day without the loss of any more wickets.
Rahul has looked good yet again. However, it will be interesting to see whether he can covert his start into a big one for Team India.
On the other side, top-order batter Pujara will look to get some more runs under his belt after a century in the previous match.
Brief Scores:
England 332 all-out in 122 overs (Jos Buttler 89, Alastair Cook 71, Ravindra Jadeja 4/79)
India 53/1 in 18 overs (KL Rahul 35*, Stuart Broad 1/12)
