Though cricket is called a gentleman sport, it has got its errors as well. There are many instances when the rifts between the players and the officials turned into ugly spats. The latest one of all being the one of Murali Vijay and Karun Nair. Both the batsmen raised their voices on the selection procedure. We figured out four instances when Indian players spoke against selectors.

Here are the four Instances When Indian Players Spoke Against Selectors:

4. Mohinder Amarnath-MS Dhoni spat:

Surprised with MS Dhoni name in the list? Believe me, it has happened. It took place in 2011 when MS Dhoni was the skipper of the Indian team across the formats. A lot of analysts expressed their concerns to remove MS Dhoni from the Test captaincy, as team India was faring pretty poorly in overseas conditions.

On the very same issue, selectors decided to sack MS Dhoni from the team and hand captaincy to a new player. However, the then president N Srinivasan played a massive role in MS Dhoni leading the team for one more year.

Despite the criticism, MS Dhoni went on to lead the team until the tour to Australia in 2014. It was the tour when MS Dhoni hanged his boots from Test format of the game. A lot of drama took place during the period of MS Dhoni’s resignation.

3. Gautam Gambhir slams Delhi selectors:

The stylish Southpaw never steps back when an unhealthy issue is taking place in front of him. It was the time when politics played a key role in Delhi Cricket. During the course, selectors decided to remove Unmukt Chand and Nitish Rana from the team citing some poor reasons, which didn’t go well with Gautam Gambhir.

Also, the management has made the dressing room be so insecure by passing the talks in the room to media. All those things irritated Gautam Gambhir, who took to press to slam the selectors and the coach for their poor maintenance of things. The issue was settled later when higher officials looked after the matter.

2. Harbhajan Singh criticises selectors for not picking Mayank Agarwal:

Mayank Agarwal from Karnataka has scored the bulk amount of runs in the domestic circuit. He impressed one and all with his splendid consistency by knocking the match-winning tallies more often than not. However, selectors overlooked him on the most number of series citing obvious reasons for it.

During Nidahas Trophy, selectors asked Mayank to play for India A. When he did well for India A, selectors were asking him to continue the same and wait for his chances. All those reasons didn’t sit well with Harbhajan Singh, who came up with a harsh tweet on the selectors.

His Tweet read ”Where is Mayank Agarwal ??? After scoring so many runs I don’t see him in the squad … different rules for different people I guess.”

1. Murali Vijay, Karun Nair opens up on selection:

The consistent opening batsman has been ignored after faring poorly in the first two matches of England vs India 2018 series. However, Murali Vijay has been fine with the decision, as he wasn’t successful against England. What erred him has been the non-communication by the selectors with him after the ouster.

Murali Vijay knocked brilliant scores while playing for Essex but still, the selectors ignored him for the series against Windies. Speaking to the media, Murali Vijay cited that he hasn’t received any communication from the officials.

Much to the same, the selectors overlooked Karun Nair for the home series as well. He wasn’t given a chance in England despite travelling with the team since the first game of the series.

Meanwhile, when the duo raised their voices on the selectors, the officials cited that the players are lying to media which triggered the massive controversy in Indian cricket.
