There is no end to the tussle of words between Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi as it looks like they continue to take it a long way. Gambhir and Afridi have been loggerheads since their first onfield exchange during the India vs Pakistan ODI in 2007. Even after retirement, both the cricketers have not stopped pulling up each other.

In a fresh new attack of words, Shahid Afridi said that he like Gambhir as a cricketer and as a batsman but he has some problem as a human being. Afridi went on to say that he goes on to say certain things in certain manner, which one would feel that should be left alone. Besides that Afridi also pointed out at the remarks made on Gambhir by former India conditioning coach Paddy Upton in his book.

Upton had written that Gambhir is the weakest and the most insecure player that he has worked with.

“As a cricketer, as a batsman, I’ve liked him always but as a human being he sometimes says certain things, gives certain treatment that you feel just let it be, he has some problems. His physio has already highlighted that,” Shahid Afridi told Zainab Abbas.

Paddy Upton had also written that “Using the popular notion of mental toughness, he was one of the weakest and mentally most insecure’ people I have worked with”.

The 2011 World Cup winner Gambhir had responded to the comments from Upton and said that, “I wanted myself and Indian team to be the best in the world. That’s why I was not satisfied even after scoring 100 as it has been mentioned in Paddy’s book. I see nothing wrong there. As a driven individual, I have tried to raise the bar for myself alone”.
