Glenn Maxwell, Australian all-rounder, will once again represent his former Indian Premier League franchise King XI Punjab in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
Maxwell, who had his best-ever IPL season while representing the Kings XI Punjab in 2014- 552 runs at a strike-rate of 187.57- was picked up by the Preity Zinta co-owned franchise for a sum of Rs 10.75 Crore in the 2020 auctions.
Maxwell recently engaging in a freewheeling chat session with Harsha Bhogle where he picked himself while naming his all-time IPL XI.
Maxwell picked the 2016 IPL-winner and the fourth-highest run-scorer in the history of the competition, David Warner [4706 runs at 43.17] as one of the openers alongside the leading run-scorer RCB captain Virat Kohli [5412 runs at 37.84].
No Lasith Malinga in Glenn Maxwell’s All-time IPL XI
Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers- the two ‘Most Valued Players’ in the history of the competition, come in at No.3 and No.4 spot while Maxwell picked himself and Kolkata Knight Riders swashbuckling all-rounder Andre Russell as the two designated all-rounders in his all-time IPL XI.
Three-time IPL winner Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his way as the designated wicketkeeper while Harbhajan Singh was picked as the lone spinner by the Australian.
Surprisingly, Glenn Maxwell did not opt for the most successful bowler in the history of the IPL- Lasith Malinga. The right-hander instead opted for his former teammate Mohit Sharma as the pace bowling partner to the duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
