Well, Ravi Shastri’s recent comment on Ravichandran Ashwin has created enough stir in the Indian cricket. He termed that Kuldeep Yadav is India’s number one spinner in overseas ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin. Meanwhile, a lot of buzzes is going on regarding that in cricketing news. However, Harbhajan Singh takes Shastri’s side.
Ashwin was one of the chief contributors to India’s success in the home Test season. He has bagged astounding numbers during the season to make things fall in place for the team. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has got a lot of limelight after his performance in Sydney Test.
I think the team is going in the right direction – Harbhajan Singh
Recently, Indian coach Ravi Shastri stated that Kuldeep is India’s No.1 spinner when it came to overseas conditions. Harbhajan Singh approved the statement and felt that India was heading towards a new direction. The veteran also felt that Jadeja will be the second choice spinner ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin.

Of late, it has been a common scenario that Harbhajan’s statements came again Ashwin for his poor show. He lashed at the poor fitness and also his dismal show on a wicket when Moeen Ali yielded success for England in Test series.
“With what Ravi Bhai (Shastri) has said about Kuldeep being your no.1 spinner in overseas conditions, I think the team is now going to that zone where they are looking for wicket-taking options. Ashwin’s home record is impressive but his overseas record is not the same. That’s why the team management seems to think Kuldeep should be preferred over Ashwin,” Harbhajan said.
Wrist Spinners are in demand:
Further, Harbhajan Singh added that Wrist spinner is in demand in the current cricketing world. He believes that they have got more variations, which would suit the modern day cricket.

“Kuldeep Yadav made most of the opportunity he got. To get five wickets away as he did at Sydney is no mean task. I think Jadeja did well too by performing at Melbourne, Sydney and at the Oval in England. So I think this spin duo could take things forward from here. You have a leg spinner, a googly, a flipper and top spinner. Then, of course, you have other small variations like deceiving in the flight.,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see how Ravichandran Ashwin responds to the statement. He is currently out from the game and will be back in the action during Indian Premier League 2019.
