Harbhajan Singh's Twitter Exchange With Chennai Super Kings Excites Fans
Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, on Sunday (January 14), caused quite a stir on Twitter when he posted a message in Tamil. The buzz only increased when the India discard got a reply in Tamil from the official handle of Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Harbhajan was recently released by Mumbai Indians which brought an end to the ten-year association between the player and the team. Harbhajan was with the team since the inaugural season in 2008 and was one of their most important players, playing an integral role in their triumphs over the years. During his time with Mumbai Indians, the 37-year old won three IPL titles and two now-defunct Champions League T20 titles. He was also the captain of the side when it lifted its first Champions League title in 2011.
However, the franchise decided to end its association with the off-spinner as the World Cup-winning bowler is looking like a pale shadow of his former self in recent times. And so not surprisingly, the exchange between him and Super Kings’ Twitter handle just a few days ahead of the upcoming auction sent the fans into meltdown. Since the tweet was in Tamil, not many fans understood the message which led to wide speculations.
Well, all the speculations were incorrect as the message from the Indian star was nothing but a post for his fans who were celebrating Pongal, a festival which is celebrated mainly in Tamil Nadu. It is a popular harvest festival and marks the auspicious beginning of the sun’s northward journey towards the equinox.
The spinner wrote in Tamil which roughly translates to “Hearty wishes to the fast, wise, hardworking and pure Tamil people on the occasion of Pongal. Yours Harbhajan Singh with love.”

The Super Kings were quick to reply, posting a message in Tamil which roughly translates to:“Hearty thanks, Mr.Turbanator. May You Get Our Sweet Pongal This Day!!”

Meanwhile, Harbhajan recently said that he was looking forward to doing well for whichever franchise he plays for in the upcoming season.
“I’ve had a great decade-long relationship with MI. I’ll look to bowl well and win games for whichever team I play for in the IPL. Let’s see what happens at the auction,” Harbhajan had said.
