India beat Australia by 50-runs in the second match of the five-one-day series in Kolkata on Thursday (21st September).

Virat Kohli won the toss for the second consecutive time in this series and again decided to bat first, much like the previous game, Australian bowlers started good but Indian captain had other plans, as he scored a magnificent 92 on a wicket that was two-paced and was not easy to bat on.

India set Australia a target of 253 runs but when the Aussies came into bat, Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t let them go away and made life difficult for David Warner and Hilton Cartwright. Bhuvi bowled six overs on the trot and gave away only six runs while picking up two crucial wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav became the third Indian international to pick a hat-trick in an ODI match, after Kapil Dev and Chetan Sharma.

With this huge win over the Australian side, the Men In Blue now sit comfortably on top of the latest ICC ODI Rankings.

India were on the second position (116 points) before this match, below South Africa (118 points). Now, with two wins under their belt, team India have dethroned the Proteas to claim the number one spot in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli-led side is already number one in Test match cricket and now after two victories over the touring Australian side, team India is ruling the world cricket in both formats of the game.
