It is a famous saying that catches win you matches. Ben Stokes is well known for his fielding abilities and talisman fielder was at his best in the opening match against England. Stokes came forward when Andile Phehlukwayo played Adil Rashid towards the square leg boundary. However, Stokes was able to judge the ball quickly as he went back to take a diving catch. In fact, it could be the best catch of the World Cup 2019.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes had also delivered the goods with the bat. Stokes was the highest scorer for England as the southpaw batsman scored 89 runs from 79 balls. In fact, the left-hander wasn’t in the best of forms and got runs when it mattered the most. The left-hander scored nine fours in his match-winning knock.

It was a blinder from Ben Stokes.

On the other hand, Ben Stokes also effected the run-out of Dwaine Pretorius with a bullet throw from the deep. Furthermore, Stokes also scalped the wicket of Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir to take two wickets. Thus, England has won the opening match by 104 runs.

Meanwhile, England came up with a collective performance after Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first. Jason Roy, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan also scored half-centuries for England.

Jason Roy and Joe Root added a 106 runs alliance for the second wicket. Roy was able to time the ball with perfection and smashed eight fours in his knock. England skipper Eoin Morgan was also able to hit the ground running.

Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi scalped three wickets for the Proteas. On the other hand, Jofra Archer bowled with fire and he snared three wickets and conceded 27 runs in his spell.

Hence, England got off to a perfect start in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019.
