The Team India batsmen were at the top of their game in their second World Cup match against Australia. After winning the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first and the Men in Blue posted an above par score of 352 runs. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan laid down the foundation of the big score as they added 127 runs for the opening wicket.

Rohit Sharma was more circumspect whereas Shikhar Dhawan took on the aggressive role. Both the talisman batsmen were able to hit the ground running as they made most of the conditions. There was not much swing available in the initial overs and Dhawan and Rohit catapulted their attack on the opposition.

India was at its best.

Rohit Sharma scored a fine fifty but he was dismissed by Nathan Coulter-Nile when the fast bowler got extra bounce from the surface. The ball took an outside edge which was neatly taken by Alex Carey.

On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan continued his love affair with the World Cup events as he completed his 17th ODI ton and his third World Cup hundred. Dhawan scored 16 fours in his blistering century and roared back into form in style.

Furthermore, it was a perfect opportunity for Virat Kohli to get runs again. Kohli struggled to find his form in the initial phase but he was at his best soon. The Indian captain converted the ones into twos and ran like a sprinter in his innings.

Hardik Pandya was promoted to the number four position and the all-rounder made most of his good form. Pandya was able to hit the ground running as he scored his runs at a healthy strike rate. The right-hander batted with the long handle and took Australia bowled to the cleaners. In fact, Pandya was lucky as he was dropped on zero by Alex Carey.

Here is how Twitter reacted to India’s innings:
