Of late, more often than not, the stalwart of Indian cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is showing his brilliance on the field. Yet again in the 5th ODI of the series against Kane Williamson-led-New Zealand, MS Dhoni kept his presence of mind at the display. He outsmarted Jimmy Neesham to send him back to the pavilion when it mattered the most for the team.

Neesham was playing beautifully and was batting on 44, looking to increase a headache in the Indian Camp. Then, he missed one of the deliveries bowled by Kedar Jadhav, there forced the Indian players to appeal for an LBW. Neesham just took few steps down the wicket during the appeal and was left surprised as Dhoni collected the ball and effected a run-out.

Speaking of the wicket, Kane Williamson in the press conference quoted that the wicket of Jimmy Neesham was a shame. However, he lauded the youngster for exhibiting his skills in the middle. Williamson feels that Neesham is in a fine form and will be someone to look at ahead of going into ICC World Cup 2019.

“Um, yeah he was batting beautifully. Obviously, he didn’t try and get out like that. It’s one of those things, it is a shame. As he was going so nicely there was that hope and that partnership with him and Santner. Even Santner wicket was unfortunate dismissal,” Williamson said.

MS Dhoni is a big wicket – Kane Williamson

Further, in the first innings, MS Dhoni wicket has left India to tumble 18/4 on the board. When asked whether that made Kiwis complacent, Williamson added that they know the firepower in the Indian attack. He added that India got world-class players in their ranks.

“We’ve seen throughout the series how good India are and you do need to be playing good cricket for a long time, not just a few dismissals. MS is a big wicket but as we’ve seen today there are a number of other guys that are outstanding world-class players. We’ve seen throughout the series,” Kane Williamson inferred.

All in all, it was a perfect end for the Indian National Cricket Team in the 5-match ODI series. They have been stunning in the first three ODI games and then suffered a poor loss in the 4th ODI. However, they showed their class back in the final ODI of the series.
