India vs West Indies 2018: Facing Spin In India Will Prepare The Team For Bangladesh Tour, Feels Stuart Law

Following a promising batting display on day one of the second Test against India, West Indies head coach Stuart Law feels the ongoing series will prepare the players for their next assignment – the tour of Bangladesh.

For the first time in two tours of India, West Indies finally made India take the second new ball. But when the day began and their top-order flopped again, it looked like an unlikely situation. For the third innings in a row, the West Indies’ top-order and middle-order failed to provide any stiff resistance. As a result, the visitors were five down for just 113 runs.

However, Roston Chase played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 98 to bail his side out of the trouble. He shared handy stands with Shane Dowrick and skipper Jason Holder to help West Indies end the day on a promising 295 for 7.

Speaking at the end of the play, Stuart Law said that facing lot of spin in India will help them in Bangladesh.

“Coming to India we expect to play a lot of spin … we are going to face lot of spin over there (as well), so it’s good the boys are getting a taste of spin here,” Law told reporters.

“It’s a great learning curve for us and we try and get the dirtiest and dustiest pitches to bat against them so we did learn how to play spin,” added Law.

West Indies will travel to Bangladesh for two Tests, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches in November-December.

Before that, the Caribbean outfit will play five ODIs and three T20 matches in India before heading off to Bangladesh.

Law, who will step down from position after the Bangladesh tour, further said that there is a lot of talent in the Caribbean.

“The thing I have noticed at my time with the West Indies here is that there is lot of talent, not only in this team but also in the whole of cricket back in the Caribbean,” said Law.

Law will coach English county side Middlesex from next season.  The former Australian cricketer took over the West Indies’ reins in January 2017 and led his team to a memorable Test victory over England at Headingley last summer.
