It looked like only one team turned out for the first Test match between India and Windies. India was able to win by an innings and 272 runs, thus they registered their biggest innings win in the red ball version. In fact, India previous biggest win had also come recently when they had obliterated Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs at Bengaluru.
Therefore, India was able to better their winning margin by ten runs. The third biggest win for India was when they had destroyed Bangladesh by an innings and 239 runs in 2007 while playing in Dhaka. In fact, the Indian team had also won against Sri Lanka by the same margin of an innings and 239 runs against Sri Lanka at Nagpur in 2017.
India records its biggest win.
India had won against the mighty Australian side by an innings and 219 runs while playing at Kolkata in 1998.
Meanwhile, it was sheer dominance from hosts in the first Test match against Windies. The world number one side was too good for the depleted Windies team.
Virat Kohli led side had scored a huge total of 649 runs in the first innings. Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja scored hundreds to help India in posting a big score. It was a maiden Test hundred for both Prithvi Shaw and Ravindra Jadeja whereas Virat Kohli scored his 24th Test century.
However, Windies were not able to come up with any kind of fight. They just surrendered their weapons and had nothing in their arsenal to challenge the hosts.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin scalped four wickets in the first innings. Ashwin also took two wickets in the second dig. Kuldeep Yadav was the chief destroyer in the second innings as he scalped his first five-wicket haul of the red ball version.
The second Test match will take place at Hyderabad from 12 October.
