Windies skipper, Jason Holder, has hit back at the critics after his side lost first of the two Tests against India in Rajkot by an innings and 272 runs. Holder is hoping the Windies team will play good cricket to make a return in the second match which begins in Hyderabad on Friday. Moreover, the fast bowler also feels the boys should take some responsibility and create some pressure on the opposition.

“Test cricket is all about being patient, building long partnerships and sustain pressure for long time. These are the things which we couldn’t do in the first Test at Rajkot (which India won by a huge margin),” Jason Holder informed media.

Meanwhile, Jason Holder didn’t want his players to repeat the same mistakes they did in the first Test. Further, he also blamed the bowling attack, as they failed to make some good breakthrough while India was building up some steady partnerships in the game.

“Yes, the bowlers were not as penetrative as they should have been in Rajkot and not having big partnerships like the Indians had in posting such a massive total which actually pushed on to the backfoot,” he added.

Furthermore, the team members along with the management are looking at the loopholes in their bowling attack. They are emphasising on how the pacers along with the spinner can gain some opportunity under challenging conditions.

“We did have a long chat with the bowlers on how to respond when the conditions are not helpful. The emphasis has to be on being skilful, do the holding job better making scoring difficult,” Holder further added.

Jason Holder also revealed he is still not fully fit but hoping to recover from the injury and play the full five days of the second Test. He is also hoping to play some good cricket and create some immense pressure on the opposition.

“Probably, I will take a call tomorrow about my fitness level,” he said.

However, Jason Holder pointed out that the Windies Test team had won more series than the ODI side. He also reminds about the time when it was tough to win over the Windies. The management along with the players and hoping to find some better way.

“The critics should remember that we are playing the best Test side in its own backyard. And,  the fact that  Windies have not won a Test since 1994 should also remind how tough it is to beat the home team in these conditions,” he concluded.
