Indian Pacer Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out Of New Zealand A Series With Back Spasms

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the ongoing India A series against New Zealand A with back spasms. He has not featured in the first four-day Test that started on Thursday, September 1. Krishna last played in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

He will not take part in any of the matches after he picked up this injury which was confirmed by a BCCI official. Krishna’s absence in the first four-day game has left the side without an experienced seamer.

The India A side is led by Priyank Panchal and he has only four specialist bowlers at his disposal. Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Kuldeep Yadav are the specialist bowlers in the game with middle-order batter Tilak Varma chipped in as the fifth bowler.

Day 1 ended with The Kiwi A side scoring 156 for 5 in 61 overs after the first day’s play. Mukesh Kumar was the best Indian bowler on the day taking 3 for 34. The other two left-armers Arzan and Yash picked up a wicket each. Kuldeep, the spinner was the most expensive Indian bowler giving away 44 runs in 19 overs.

Joe Carter top-scored with 73 in the Kiwi total of 156/5. Robert O’ Donnell, the skipper of the side scored 24. The rest of the batters got starts but could not score big.

Prasidh Krishna Not Considered For India’s Asia Cup Squad

Speaking about Prasidh Krishna, he has played 14 ODIs for India and is yet to feature in any of the other two formats. The Karnataka pacer took four wickets in two matches.

India headed into the Asia Cup after winning the ODI series 3-0. Krishna was left out of the squad as India decided to go in with only three specialist pacers in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh. Krishna was overlooked even in the reserves as well.

New Zealand will play three four-day games and also play three one-day matches. The ODIs will be played in Chennai on September 22, 25 and 27.
