The second leg of the fixtures between hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and visitors Chennai Super Kings (CSK) belonged to the home side as they avenged their earlier defeat in style on Thursday night.
Shubhman Gill redeemed himself after a dropped catch of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in first innings, with his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) half-century. But it was Sunil Narine, who turned the match in KKR’s favour with his all-round performance under the dynamic leadership of Dinesh Karthik, who has witnessed a mixed season.
After CSK went off to the flier, Narine along with Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav put the brakes on the visitor’s proceedings by taking wickets and bowling economical overs.
Chasing a challenging total, Narine came back with the bat and scored quick runs at top of the order, to take the game further away from the men in yellow.
“I’ll stick to my bowling. Nice to come out with a win. Getting the freedom to play my shots. That’s the key. They back me whatever happens. He relies highly on spin,” Narine mentioned during the post-match presentation.
While concluding, Narine appeared elated that the Knight Riders are back to their winning ways.
The pinch-hitter in the form of Sunil Narine believes Knight Riders have a fair chance of going deep into the tournament.
“Seamers did the job today. We finished it off. Everyone takes their success differently. I am enjoying my game with good performances,” concluded Man of the Match, Sunil Narine.
