Former Australia skipper turned commentator, Michael Clarke has showered heaps of praise for the young Mumbai Indians (MI) wicket-keeper batsman, Ishan Kishan who played a blistering knock against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) the other day.
Meanwhile, Kishan’s knock helped Mumbai enter the top four position for the first time on the points table. The southpaw was in full mood, as the bowlers went in search of the leather.
Batting first, skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t find his timing right. However, his partner Kishan looked fluent. Left-arm leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav got a good beating, as Mumbai posted a mammoth total.
Kishan joined skipper Rohit Sharma, as the openers departed providing a decent start. Kishan smashed the 2nd ball of his innings for a massive six after missing the very first delivery. He then hit three fours in the next over bowled by Piyush Chawla.
Kishan’s plays a helicopter shot
Meanwhile, it was during Kuldeep’s third over when Kishan went all guns blazing. He struck three consecutive sixes which brought his fifty. The 4th six, which came on the last ball of the over was nothing but special, as Kishan using his wrists deposited the ball for a six, much like the famous MS Dhoni helicopter shot.
However, this left Clarke in absolute awe and lavishes praise on the young keeper. He went on to label him as ‘left-handed MS Dhoni.’
“Look at that, a bit of MS Dhoni there, left-handed MS Dhoni,” Clarke said.
Interestingly, Dhoni and Kishan hail from the same state and the latter idolise the senior cricketer. During MI’s clash against Chennai Super Kings, Kishan was seen learning some tricks or so from the legend.
Moreover, Kishan credited his success to Dhoni at the post-match presentation ceremony. He added Dhoni’s valuable tips have helped him grow as a cricketer.
