Rajasthan Royals (RR) kept their hopes alive in Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) 11 after registering their sixth victory of the tournament by beating the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 47th match of the competition by seven wickets, and their mentor, Shane Warne was all but happy with the side’s performance.

The recent wins revolved around a couple of stellar performances. It was Jofra Archer who was the star with the ball finishing with impressive figures of two for 16, and, on the other hand, Jos Buttler played an astonishing knock of an unbeaten 95 which eventually took Rajasthan to the victory target.

Speaking after the victory, Royals mentor, Shane Warne shared some of his best IPL memories.

Warne was the captain-cum-coach in the inaugural edition of the tournament which Royals won beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final.

Warne was the only non-Indian captain in IPL at that time and to take them to a victory was something exceptional. No one gave them a chance ahead of the tournament, but they did the impossible.

Warne said winning that tournament as the underdogs will forever remain one of the most cherishable moments in his career. He added being a mentor now is a lot more stressful than what it used to be when he was out there on the park.

The former legendary leg-spinner also stated Rajasthan is peaking at the right time and he is fully confident of the guys.

Warne stressed on the fact that despite the victories Rajasthan has a lot to work on.

In the last couple of matches, it has been single-handed efforts from Buttler which had handed them victories. Warne had said before the match on Saturday he was slated to leave for Australia on Monday.

However, in the interview after Sunday’s game, he hinted at staying along for the next game.

“I have my son’s birthday on Friday, and my daughter’s on Sunday. So I have to leave.”

However, he will stay along for one more game and will return if his team does reach the playoffs. Shane heaped praises on the local cricketers claiming  India is blessed with riches of talent.

“Sanju Samson is right there up with Rishabh Pant. I think those two guys are perhaps the best two young India batsmen I have seen for a long, long time. Pant is in terrific form and the way Sanju Samson has played through the tournament too.

He has been a bit unlucky in the last few games. But he is an outstanding player. He is a quality international cricketer. The way he thinks about the game. He is good both against pace and spin in all conditions, and I think he will be the next superstar of Indian cricket,” said Warne.
