IPL 2019: David Miller Heaps Praise on Ravichandran Ashwin's Leadership

Kings XI Punjab middle-order batsman David Miller has heaped praise on his skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. The experienced off-spinner has led with aplomb and has done a fine job for the team. Ashwin has all the experience under his belt and he has done a fine job as the leader of the side. Miller believes that Ashwin has led from the front as well as by example.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab is at the fifth position in the points table. Punjab has won five matches and they have lost as many in the ten matches they have played. Ashwin was criticized when he had mankaded Jos Buttler in the fourth match of the season.

Ashwin has led with aplomb.

On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin has shined with the ball for his team. Ashwin has scalped 11 wickets in the 10 matches and his good form with the ball has transpired into his leadership.

David Miller said while talking to Times of India, “He (Ashwin) has been really good as a captain. He leads from the front and by example. He thinks about the game a lot. He has played a lot of games for India and has an abundance of experience with him”.

On the other hand, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle have done the lion share’s of the scoring for the Punjab team. Rahul has amassed 399 runs whereas Chris Gayle has accumulated 421 runs in the ongoing season. Miller praised the duo for their consistency.

“Both have done immensely well for the team. When you have a good start, the rest of the job becomes easy. That’s what Chris and KL have done for us so far. They are known to lay solid foundations. If they stick (around) for 7 to 8 overs, things become easy for the team”.

However, Miller form with the bat hasn’t been impressive. The southpaw has thus far scored only 178 runs in the eight innings for the Punjab side. Meanwhile, Miller believes it would be really special if they go on to win their maiden IPL title

“It will be really special. But we are focusing on one game at a time. Our main target is to make it to the play-offs. Once we reach the play-offs, we will try to reshuffle things and plan accordingly”.

Kings XI Punjab will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 24th April at latter’s home ground of M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
