It is always an exciting contest when the Indian players who play for the national side together find themselves taking on each other in the Indian Premier League. India’s lanky fast bowler Ishant Sharma shared one such instance when he tried to take on Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli.

Ishant who has roared back to form in the last one year revealed that he tempted Rohit Sharma to hit him for a boundary. However, Rohit Sharma didn’t took on the challenge. The flamboyant batsman told Ishant that the Feroz Shah Kotla pitch is not suited for big shot as the pitch is low and slow. However, the home of Mumbai Indians – Wankhede Stadium is known to be a run-fest. Thus, Rohit Sharma invited Ishant Sharma to Wankhede.

Ishant Sharma shares interesting events.

In fact, Ishant Sharma was able to have the last laugh a he was able to dismiss Rohit Sharma in that match.

“… against Rohit, against Mumbai Indians in Delhi, I was having fun in the middle. I told him, “Maar na” (Hit it). He said, “Yeh kya wicket pe khelte ho tum? Kahan se maroonga?” (What kind of wicket is this? How will I hit it?). After the match I told him, “Maara nahin tune yaar” (You didn’t hit big). He said, “Udhar aa na” (Come to Wankhede). I told him: “Out kiya na tujhe” (But I got you out). So these are fun moments we have despite playing with intensity. Yes, we are playing the IPL, but the Indian team is my first family,” Ishant told ESPNcricinfo.

On the other hand, Ishant Sharma recalled a similar incident against Virat Kohli – with whom he has also played in the Delhi colours. Virat Kohli had edged the ball which Delhi Capitals keeper Rishabh Pant claimed out. However, there was doubt whether Pant had grabbed the ball cleanly or not. Hence, Kohli decided not to walk off and told Ishant to go back and bowl.

“I think it carried. I told him, “You are out, walk, go.” He said, “No, it was one-bounce, you go and bowl.” The umpire gave it not out. Virat hit me for a six next ball,” Ishant said.

Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma has bowled with aplomb in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The tall fast bowler has claimed 12 wickets in 12 matches and he has bowled with a impressive economy rate of 7.73. Delhi Capitals will take on Chennai Super Kings at Visakhapatnam today in the second qualifier.
