Mumbai Indians (MI) defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have won the coveted trophy a record four times, and this season, they will not only try to retain their title but will also aim to become the only team to win the IPL five times.
While it’s no easy feat, winning is a habit for Rohit Sharma’s team. With the 13th edition of the upcoming IPL season drawing close, we take a look at some key players from the Indians who can help them retain the trophy when the new season begins, on March 29.
Here are three players from Mumbai Indians (MI) who can help them win the IPL 2020 title:
3) Quinton de Kock

Not just an opener, but as a wicketkeeper-batsman, Quinton de Kock will be key to Indians’ title credentials in the upcoming IPL season. He will be responsible to provide the team with a platform from the start, and the 27-year-old an exceptionally talented player, so the team will rely on him to score plenty of runs.
In his IPL career so far, the South African skipper has played fifty matches, scoring 1456 runs, with an average of 30.33 and a strike rate of 131.29.
De Kock has had an indifferent time lately with the national team, but in the IPL, he will be surrounded by world-class players, so hopefully, the left-handed batsmen will continue to take responsibility for the Indians’ just as he takes for the Proteas.
2) Jasprit Bumrah

Without a doubt, Jasprit Bumrah will be Mumbai Indians’ marquee bowler in the upcoming IPL season.
The Indian international played 16 matches last season and picked up 19 wickets. He will be expected to continue to scalp wickets for fun and take his team to yet another title.
Bumrah has played 77 IPL matches so far and has amassed 82 wickets overall, at an economy of 7.56, with an average of 26.62 and a strike rate of 21.12.
Having said that, the 26-year-old hasn’t been in an impressive form lately, but in home conditions of the Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah will be expected to find his line and length yet again. He will be very crucial if the Indians’ are hoping to win the IPL 2020 title.
1) Rohit Sharma

Undoubtedly, the best player in the ranks of Mumbai Indians their skipper Rohit Sharma will have to score lots of runs for his team to lead them to yet another trophy-laden season. The 32-year-old got injured while playing for India in New Zealand and he is recuperating from his hamstring injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Rohit scored 405 runs last year, in 15 matches and led Mumbai to their record fourth IPL title.
In his illustrious career, the right-handed opener has amassed 188 IPL caps, having scored an incredible 4898 runs so far. He averages over 31 and has a strike rate just north of 130.
While some reports state that the Indian ace will miss the opening few games of the IPL 2020, it remains to be seen how he recovers from the latest setback.
Before his injury though, Rohit was in blistering form, helping India whitewash New Zealand in the T20I series 5-0. His team will hope the Nagpur-born player will fitness soon and lead their IPL charge once again.
