Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad will lock horns in Dubai on Tuesday for the second time in IPL 2020. Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad are both coming off convincing losses; however, the latter’s campaign is in a relatively better spot. On the other hand, with five defeats out of seven under their belt, CSK are in real peril of not reaching the playoffs for the first time.

After their resounding victory over Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets, Chennai Super Kings’ batting line-up, openers in particular, seemed to have rediscovered their mojo. However, it only got worse after falling short of ten runs against Kolkata Knight Riders followed by a 37-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The prospect of chasing scores in all the games so far has not helped their cause either. Hence, the clash against the SunRisers could be their final chance of keeping their playoffs hopes alive.

In contrast, in the case of SunRisers Hyderabad, it feels like they are getting the hang of things before taking another back step. Their defeat to Rajasthan Royals by five wickets primarily came on the back of some poor death bowling where they conceded many boundary balls to Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag. The likes of T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Sandeep Sharma were not enough to make up for Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s absence. However, the highly positive news is that David Warner and Jonny Bairstow are beginning to hit their straps.

Despite losing to Rajasthan Royals by five wickets, the bowling remains SunRisers Hyderabad’s strongest suit. Chennai Super Kings’ batting line-up has once again begun disintegrating and the lack of tempo and swift running between the wickets would be quite crucial in Dubai. Due to the uncertainties and form concerns over Chennai’s batting line-up and their batsmen, SunRisers will most likely come out on top.
