Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Lalit Yadav has said that they are not “heavily dependent” on the opening duo of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Delhi Capitals have failed to register consecutive wins in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league and currently, they are at the 7th spot in the points table with 4 wins and 5 defeats in 9 outings.

In an interview with TimesofIndia.com Lalit Yadav was asked whether the Delhi Capitals are heavily dependent on openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner.
“I won’t say DC are heavily dependent on them. Davy (David Warner) and Prithvi (Shaw) are game changers. If it is their day, they play the role of game changers. It’s not like the team is totally dependent on them.
“In T20s, you need a good start. If you get a good start then any target is achievable. If our openers manage to lay a solid foundation, we score big. They form the base for us. The base or foundation is very important in a match.”
He told me how to support myself mentally – Lalit Yadav on Shane Watson
In the same interview, Lalit was asked about assistant coach Shane Watson, to which he responded by saying that the former Australian all-rounder has helped him to balance things during the bad days. He asserted:
“If you talk about the mental aspect of the game, talking to a big legend of the game, he shares his experience, and what he used to think while playing. He told me how to support myself mentally and balance things during the bad days. I have learnt a lot from him.”
