James Anderson is into his 18th year of international career but still raring to go and contribute from the front for the national team. Although, James Anderson has not been a regular in the limited-overs for England since 2015, he continues to spearhead the fast bowling department in the longest format.

However Anderson, in the twilight zone of his career, is still focused to give it his all for the national team. He picked up an injury in the Test series against South Africa earlier this year but was contended to make a comeback ahead of the Sri Lanka series, which could not go on due to the novel coronavirus pandemic situation.

James Anderson: I am lucky my action is repeatable, doesn’t put strain on body

Naturally the body of fast bowlers start to effect in their early 30s. But James Anderson has still a year or so left in his long Test career by his own admission. The England fast bowler has said that it is his repeatable action that helps as it does not provides much strain on his body despite the age.

Anderson also added that he is still working on his action and making sure that he can be as economical for the side as possible. The 37-year-old has picked up 584 wickets for England from 151 Test matches at an average of 26.83 and strike rate of 56.1. He has an economy rate of 2.86.

“I am lucky my action is repeatable and doesn’t put too much strain on my body. I still work on my action now and making sure it is as economical as it can be,” Anderson said in a Sky Sports podcast when asked about his long Test career.

On his retirement front, there are media reports that Anderson and his new-ball partner Stuart Broad can hang up their boots before 2020-21 Ashes.
