Jasprit Bumrah Is One Of The Sharpest Bowlers I Have Come Across: Former India Bowling Consultant Eric Simons

Former India bowling consultant Eric Simons feels that Jasprit Bumrah is one of the sharpest bowlers he has come across in his coaching career. Simons, a former South African cricketer with 23 ODI appearances, also feels that people do not realize the maturity of someone like Jasprit Bumrah.

Jarprit Bumrah is among India’s top pacers in the current squad. The right-arm pacer is a permanent member of the national squad in all three formats. Even in IPL, he is a crucial member of the Mumbai Indians franchise. With his pace and yorkers, the 28-year-old bowler crushes the opposition on many occasions. In ICC rankings, he holds 9th spot in Tests, 7th spot in ODIs, and 24th in T20Is.

Jasprit Bumrah Is One Of The Sharpest Minds I Have Come Across: Eric Simons

In an interview with News18, the former India bowling consultant Eric Simons praised Jasprit Bumrah, calling him one of the sharpest minds among current bowlers.

“He (Jasprit Bumrah) is one of the sharpest bowlers I have come across. When we play against him in the IPL, I try and have a chat to him. I don’t think people realise the maturity and cricketing nuance of someone like Bumrah, and generally of Indian bowlers. They understand the game well”, Eric Simons said.

Eric Simons, who has also worked as a bowling consultant for Chennai Super Kings in the past, feels that Indian bowlers have a clear thought and understanding about the game and have solid plans.

“In the IPL you work with bowlers from all over the world, and I find that India’s bowlers have good, clear thinking about the game. Sometimes it might be wrong and you might disagree, but, at least, they have a thought. Bumrah is an absolute leader. But you will find that all the Indian bowlers have solid plans. The conversations that are taking place within the bowling group, you will find, are very shrewd and clever, of tactics, analysing batsmen”, Eric Simons further said.

India’s current pace bowling attack is one of the dangerous in international cricket. Pacers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, and Umesh Yadav are among the top pacers in India’s national team currently. These pacers have managed to crush opposition even on foreign soil, which was widely seen during the England and Australia tours last year.
