How Jos Buttler Became MS Dhoni Fan

England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler is one of the greatest players in white-ball cricket. His success and brilliance has largely benefited England. Buttler is currently on duty for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2020. Although he has not been consistent this season, his brilliance was on show in bits and pieces.

Buttler resonates with MS Dhoni and his admiration for the former India captain grew during the 2011 World Cup. So much so, that in the ongoing season of IPL 2020, he asked Dhoni for his autographed jersey to which the CSK captain obliged.

Buttler likes a lot of qualities about MS Dhoni. Be it his calm demeanour or his explosive batting ability or helicopter shot. The Englishman also recalled watching Dhoni in the 2011 World Cup and was fond of the way the then India captain walked in to the field and finished the games.

“I like his demeanour on the field. How cool and calm he is. I like his explosive batting, the helicopter shot. I always watched the IPL on TV. I remember some of the great innings he has played. One thing I really love is the 2011 World Cup final.

“How he walked out to bat and said I am going to see this home. That was inspiring and the way he finished the game with a six. It always resonated with me,” Buttler told the Times of India.

Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.

All the success has made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he is on the field.
