Keeping World Cup in Mind, Jasprit Bumrah to Get Adequate Rest in IPL

India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to get adequate rest from the upcoming Indian Premier League. Bumrah is India’s best bowler in the limited overs version and he is going to hold the key in the upcoming World Cup. In fact, Jasprit Bumrah is at the pinnacle of the ICC ODI Rankings.

Subsequently, it is incumbent for India’s team management to manage the workload of Jasprit Bumrah before the World Cup. It is always a hectic schedule in the T20 tournament and it would make sense if Bumrah will miss some matches of the Mumbai Indians.

The talisman fast bowler was the architect of India’s triumph in the third Test match where he took nine wickets for 86 runs. In fact, he scalped his best bowling figures in which he took 6-33 in the first innings.

“For someone of Virat’s stature, he can take a call himself and discuss with his franchise about his workload. However, for Bumrah, the Indian team’s support staff will need to prepare all the relevant data so that we can have a discussion with MI if the situation arises,” a senior BCCI Official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

Bumrah has taken giant strides in the recent past and it is going to be pivotal to manage his workload. Meanwhile, Bumrah can also get some rest for the upcoming ODI series against Australia and New Zealand.

“Obviously, if he is fit, he will play all important matches for MI but in between, with such a hectic travel schedule during IPL, it will be great if he is rested keeping the World Cup in mind,” he added.

Jasprit Bumrah has played regularly for the Indian team. He had to sit out of the first two Test matches against England due to a thumb injury. Consequently, the think tank will aim to keep him away from any kind of injuries.

Meanwhile, India will look to continue with their good performance in the fourth Test match against Australia. The final match will take place at Sydney from January 3.
