After the conclusion of the historical One-off Test match between Ireland and Pakistan recently, the debutants in the form of Kevin O’Brien and Tim Murtagh break into the top 100 amongst batters and bowlers respectively, in the latest ICC rankings.
Kevin O’Brien smashed a valiant century on his debut with the help of his 118, after Pakistan enforced the follow-on. O’Brien raced to the 66th place in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings for batsmen.
The 34-year old Irishman O’Brien won the player of the match award. The experienced campaigner turned the game around its head. He gave Ireland a slim chance of an upset with his efforts in both the innings.
Meanwhile, Murtagh is now placed at the 67th spot after scalping six wickets in the match. Following Murtagh, Stuart Thompson also breaks into the top 100 amongst bowlers and all-rounders.
In the Pakistani camp, debutants Faheem Ashraf and Imam ul-Haq, after making impressive debuts, gallop upwards into the chart with Azhar Ali dropping out of the top 10 rankings.
Further, the Fab four of world cricket, featuring Steven Smith, Joe Root, Virat Kohli, and Williamson. They continue to dominate the top 10 charts among the batsmen.
Following the batting quarter, the likes of David Warner, AB de Villiers, Cheteshwar Pujara, Elgar, and Aiden Markram head the list.
