The hat-trick man from Uttar Pradesh, Kuldeep Yadav is making headlines, ever since he knicked one off Pat Cummins straight into the hands of MS Dhoni.

The left-arm-unorthodox bowler later described the memorable feat as a “special” effort and admitted of having never dreamt of achieving something like that. The left-arm wrist spinner is now only the third Indian to take a hat-trick in One-Day Cricket after Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev.

Yadav joined the list of legends when he removed Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar, and Pat Cummins of consecutive balls in the 33rd over.

The iconic ‘Eden Gardens’ itself witnessed its third hattrick as previously India’s best all-rounder, Kapil Dev (1991) and the most successful off-spinner for India, Harbhajan Singh (2001) also knocked three batsmen down at the historical venue.

It is the same ‘City of Joy’ where the young wrist-spinner graduated to the next level. Kolkata Knight Riders bought Kuldeep Yadav in IPL for $66,000 in the 2014 auction. It took time for him to break into the star-studded team and only debuted two years later in 2016. In the entire season, he played only three matches but this year Gautam Gambhir showed a lot of trust in him and he ended up picking 12 wickets from 12 matches.

After his unbelievable spell of spin bowling, Kuldeep Yadav shared a special tweet for all his fans while recollecting his achievement.

“Proud moment for me to take a hat-trick for India at Eden Gardens, where I have learnt a lot in the last few years. Thanks all for love.”
