Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s wrist-spin bowling duo, have expressed delight at the talks of the T20 World Cup and IPL taking place in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The International Cricket Council [ICC] has deferred the decision on the T20 World Cup till July but with Australia easing up restrictions and allowing crowds to attend sporting activities, the prospect of the tournament taking place has received a major boost.
The BCCI, on the other hand, are aiming at the September-November window to stage the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League if the ICC postpones the T20 World Cup to a later date.
Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav recently appeared on Salam Cricket 2020 where they said-
“This is really good news for the game and for the fans. If the lockdown didn’t happen then we wouldn’t have got the time to do anything. But now with the resumption of cricket, we will get to do the things that we were missing out on. Ganguly sir also said that the IPL also might be possible. But the positive sign is that cricket is going to start again, doesn’t matter whether it takes a bit of time,” Chahal said.
“I miss the feeling of playing with the team. But now with the reducing number of cases in New Zealand and Australia, the T20 World Cup might also be possible. It will take a bit more time, maybe 1-2 months, but if cricket returns after that it will be great for all of us,” Kuldeep said.

‘We will be the No.1 contenders’- Kuldeep Yadav on India’s chances in the T20 World Cup
If the T20 World Cup does go ahead, Chahal and Kuldeep will be India’s key weapons on the big grounds of Australia.
Speaking on India’s chances, Kuldeep Yadav declared the Men in Blue as the No.1 contenders for the coveted title.
“We have a really good team, we have good all-rounders, batsmen and especially the bowlers. If you ask me then I think we will be the No. 1 contenders. Our spin attack has been one of the best, so has been the batting. We keep the team as our priority always, which increases our chances of winning. Hopefully, the T20 World Cup will happen and get the trophy back home.” Kuldeep Yadav added.
