KL Rahul, Kings XI Punjab captain, failed to convert his start into a substantial knock during his sides’ do-or-die encounter against Chennai Super Kings after he was knocked over by Lungisani Ngidi in the 9th over.

Rahul, who was once again looking in a pristine touch during his 27-ball 29 in the ongoing fixture before he was undone by a bit of magic from the South African pacer.

The moment came on the third ball of the ninth over when KL Rahul, who trying to scoop Lungi Ngidi over fine-leg, was completely bamboozled by a slower cutter. Rahul almost did not see it coming. He was setting-up himself for a paddle on what looked like a full-toss before the ball suddenly dipped in front of him and crept underneath before the frailing bat and the off-stump was flattened to the ground.

This was Lungi Ngidi’s second wicket of the game. Earlier, the lanky pacer had dismissed another dangerous-looking batsman in Mayank Agarwal [26 off 15 balls] after the Indian Test opener chopped it on his stumps. Agarwal was looking in brilliant form during his 15-ball 26 and it was his belligerence that helped KXIP made full use of the powerplay.

Kings XI Punjab finished the powerplay at 1-53 but since then they have lost their way considerably due to the dismissals of KL Rahul and now Nicholas Pooran [2 off 6 balls] and Chris Gayle, who has been trapped LBW by Imran Tahir.
