Mohammad Kaif paid his last tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Former India cricketer, Mohammad Kaif paid condolences to the former Indian Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who died at the age of 93, following a prolonged illness.

Meanwhile, a Hindu nationalist from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vajpayee had been in the hospital since June with a kidney infection and chest congestion. Vajpayee served as India’s prime minister three times: for 13 days in 1996, 11 months in 1998 to 1999 and then from 1999 to 2004.

Furthermore, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a foreign minister from 1977 to 1980. He was of the view that India should enshrine Hindu culture. Reports emerge Vajpayee was also the chief architect of the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992. Later, he called it off terming it as India’s darkest hour.

He had more than five-decade-long political career peaked in the 1990s when his oratory attracted tens of thousands of people. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also a poet and a philosopher. Moreover, Vajpayee retired from politics in 2005, four years before suffering a stroke that made him retreat from public view.

Mohammad Kaif pays tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee

The former India cricketer, who hung his boots a month back, has paid the last tribute to the veteran leader. He also praised him highly and remembered an incident when Vajpayee lauded him in an election rally.

Mohammed Kaif, further noted that the nation will miss a leader like him.

One of the finest leaders, India has ever had. Feel a lot of gratitude for the love he showered upon me and also wished well for me in an election rally. The nation will miss him. Condolences to his loved ones #AtalBihariVaajpayee,” the tweet read.

Mohammed Kaif represented India in 13 Tests and 125 ODIs and is remembered for his special knock in the 2002 NatWest Trophy final. Moreover, Kaif changed the perception of fielding in the Indian scenario.
