The Indian team might have clinched the T20I series against Australia; however, Mohammad Kaif has expressed concerns with Sanju Samson wasting his chances. On the back of his reasonably good IPL form, Sanju Samson got the nod for the T20I series in Australia and played in the first two games but has not converted his promising starts to big scores. Mohammad Kaif has advised Samson to learn from Virat Kohli.
Sanju Samson gave a glimpse of his scintillating form that he displayed in IPL 2020. The right-handed batsman scored quick-fire 23 and 15 runs in the first two T20Is in Sydney and Canberra against Australia; however, he threw it away. Samson not only played some glorious drives but crafted some powerful shots that went a long way into the crowd.
“According to me, we have won the series. He has got two innings and in the first T20I, Sanju Samson was looking good. It felt like he could score runs. And he has the X-factor, he has the ability to hit sixes. Yes, he is frittering away his chances. He is new and will get more chances although he has not grasped his chances like Natarajan has done. That has not happened with Sanju Samson but I feel he should get more chances,” Kaif said as quoted by Times Now.
Virat Kohli is a player who also makes the runs through singles and doubles: Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif urged Sanju Samson to learn from Virat Kohli and how he plays in the middle overs by running the ones and twos. The 40-year old admits the Kerala batsman’s ability to hit the sixes; however, he also needs to know how to build the innings.
“If Samson gets the opportunity now, then he should take the example from Virat Kohli in the middle. Virat Kohli is a player who also makes the runs through singles and doubles. You can hit the sixes but he needs to learn from Virat Kohli on how to build an innings,” he added.
