In the game of cricket, the selection of head coach has always been a significant aspect. A lot of debates, drama and action goes in the Indian cricket when it comes to appointing of a head coach. Meanwhile, once again, the time ticked, as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asks application for the chief coach role for India Women’s team. In the meantime, Sanjay Manjrekar has got a query regarding the selection of the head coach owing to the involvement of an ‘elite panel’.
Recently, BCCI asked Kapil Dev to be in the Elite Committee panel in a bid to announce the coach. Shantha Rangaswamy and Anshuman Gaekwad are the others to join the former skipper.
Selectors should pick the coach – Manjrekar
Meanwhile, Manjrekar isn’t impressed with the separate committee for the appointment of a coach. He suggests Indian selectors appoint the coach, who are very much in touch with the team, players and the management respectively.

Further, Manjrekar wants those hard-working selectors to give the right to select the head coach.
However, as far as the previous appointments are concerned, selectors never involved in appointing the head coach.
”Never understood the logic of having a separate ‘elite’ committee to pick a coach. Just ask the hardworking selectors intimately involved day in day out with Indian cricket, the Indian team and player selections to select the Indian coach too,” he tweeted.
