Ever since retiring from cricket, Nick Compton has been making it to the news headlines more for wrong reasons. It would not be entirely wrong to say that Nick Compton does not have too many fans in India. The reason behind it is his comments regarding Indian players especially skipper Virat Kohli. And the former England cricketer has once proved that he does not like Indian cricket much.

The ICC released the latest Test rankings on Sunday and as expected the Indian players totally dominated the lists. India have been the most consistent Test side in the five years or so and have been at the top of the ICC Test rankings for more than three years. At home, their performance has been even more better. India haven’t lost a series at home since the one against England in 2012-13 season.

India, in fact, have lost just one Test since that series defeat. Thus it was not at all surprising to see as many as five Indian batsmen among the top 11 of ICC Test Ranking. Virat Kohli is the highest-ranked Indian at second spot, followed by Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma at four, five and ten respectively.

Newcomer Mayank Agarwal is at eleventh position after two double centuries in his last four Tests. Nick Compton, however, could not figure out why there were five Indians among the top 11 of the rankings.

“I wonder why that is,” wrote Nick Compton while replying to a tweet showing the rankings.

Talking about the rankings, India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami broke into the top ten after taking seven wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh. He is at seventh spot. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is the top-ranked Indian bowler in Tests and has occupied the fourth spot.
