Wriddhiman Saha is one of the two Indian players to have played with the pink ball under lights at the Eden Gardens. Following the injection of the Pink Ball Test, Saha can’t wait to take the field against Bangladesh in the second Test of the series. It will be the first time that Virat Kohli and boys will be playing a Day/Night Test.

In a historic move, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) accepted to Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) proposal to host a day-night Test in the upcoming 2-Test series between the two teams. India will thus host their first-ever pink-ball Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata from November 22. It will be a part of ICC World Test Championship as well.

Ganguly, on Monday, confirmed he had spoken to BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chaudhary about BCCI’s proposal to play the 2nd and final Test of the 2-match series in Kolkata with the pink-ball. Newly-appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has always been an ardent supporter of day-night Tests.

Sometimes it was difficult to pick Pink Ball – Wriddhiman Saha

Speaking to IANS, Wriddhiman Saha stated that he enjoys difficulties and this will definitely be one tough test as the Indian boys play their first pink-ball Test. Further, he revealed that it was a bit tough to pick the ball at times.

“This will be a new challenge in front of us. We have not played Tests with the pink ball. I have been part of a domestic pink-ball multi-day game. Challenge is there in every sport. The more you are challenged as a team, you get better and I am sure we will do that,” Saha said.

“To be honest, I really don’t remember all of it. Shami bowled really fast and we (Mohun Bagan) won. One thing I remember is sometimes it was becoming difficult to pick the ball,” he added as per Hindustan Times.

The announcement of the first-ever day-night Test in India comes after BCCI’s continued resistance to the newest experiment in world cricket. The cricket body had argued that India had not played enough first-class cricket under the lights and it would risk losing World Test Championship points.
