Rashid Khan, Afghanistan and SunRisers Hyderabad leg-spinner has been absolutely sensational in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

The N0.1 T20 bowler in the world, Rashid Khan had a slow start to his IPL 2020 campaign but the champion leg-spinner has since then gone from strength-t0-strength to spearhead SunRisers Hyderabad attack with aplomb.

Khan was the most economical bowler in the entire league-stage of the IPL. The leg-spinner went at a barely believable 5.28 runs-per-over and besides that, he went on to claim 19 wickets at a strike-rate of 17.6- the second-most by a spinner in IPL 2020- which also included his career-best figures of 3-7 in four overs.

So, what’s the success behind Rashid Khan’s astounding numbers? The Afghan sensation, in a recent interview with Sky Sports, revealed that prior to the start of the season, he had decided to consistently target the good length area, something that he did with aplomb.

“I don’t think there is any secret [to my form]; I work hard to bowl more best deliveries in a good length area. I have seen in old videos with my pitching I made it too easy for the batsman by pitching too short or full,” Rashid Khan said.

“Before the competition, I had it in my mind that I had to forget about wickets, forget about everything. I just needed to bowl and hit that area, which in this IPL I have hit consistently. That’s how a lot of runs haven’t been scored off me as well; that might be the reason behind my figures. I have to be really consistent with my line and length – if I am then if not a wicket, I think a dot ball will come.” he added.

Rashid further added that he always aims to consistently bowl in the right areas and when he does that, he has the belief and mindset to trouble the best in the world.

“To have it in the mind that the batsman is on the back foot and is not going to charge on you then I have the advantage, but at the same time, I need to bowl in the right areas, otherwise anyone can smash you,” Rashid Khan explained.

“As long as I get that right then I can trouble the best in the world. This is my belief and my mindset.” he added.

Rashid Khan will once again be the key for SunRisers Hyderabad when they lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator on Friday.
