Ravi Shastri has watched MS Dhoni’s illustrious career from very close quarters. He was in the commentary box when Dhoni made his debut and was out for a duck in 2004. And the former India allrounder is the head coach of the Indian team when Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday.
Ravi Shastri was either in the commentary box or was with the Indian team throughout Dhoni’s glorious career that spanned over 15 years. And as the former India skipper brought down curtains on his illustrious career, Ravi Shastri paid him a glowing tribute.
The India coach took to Twitter to join the world in paying tribute to Dhoni. Having watched Dhoni become one of India’s greatest ever cricketers, Ravi Shastri said it was a privilege and honour for him to share the dressing room with the wicketkeeper-batsman.
“Massive boots to fill. It’s been a privilege and honour to be part of the dressing room and seeing you as a thoroughbred professional at work. Salute one of India’s greatest cricketers. Second to none. Enjoy. God Bless MS DHONI,” wrote Ravi Shastri.
