Ravichandran Ashwin happy as he Shifts his base to Punjab

Premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was snubbed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in today’s auction has been picked by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for a whopping amount of 7.6 crores.

Ashwin was an integral part of CSK’s success before it got banned. He was the go-to man for their skipper MS Dhoni whenever he needed to break a partnership. Previously, MS Dhoni and CSK management said that they would go all out at Ashwin and get him at all costs.

However, it was a different story in the auctions. Chennai bid for him till the four crore point. Once he crossed the four crore mark, CSK was least interested in him. After some intense bidding war, Ashwin was sold to the Kings XI Punjab at 7.6 crores. The Kings XI Punjab were very happy to rope in Ashwin in their squad.

Kings XI Punjab management went aggressively at Ashwin and were looking to get him at all cost. Ashwin is still India’s No 1 spinner in Test cricket; however, he lost his place in shorter formats to Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

CSK replaced Ashwin with veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was not retained by Mumbai Indians.

However, Ashwin seemed delighted on shifting his base as took to Twitter to share his happiness. He said that the auction is always like a house of casino. Further, he thanked CSK for all the great memories.
