Team India took two wickets in the second session of the second Test courtesy Ravichandran Ashwin who got rid of both the openers. After starting well in the first session and going into lunch at 78/0 both the openers looked good at the start of the second session as well. Ashwin bowled majority of the overs in the session and Elgar looked to attack the off-spinner to begin the session.

Elgar hit one straight over Ashwin’s head in his very first over. The India team needed some luck after missing some opportunities in the first session. Elgar stepped down once again, but Ashwin saw him coming down the track and shortened the length of the delivery. Elgar hit the ball straight into the lap of the silly point fielder Murali Vijay to give India the first breakthrough at 85.
