Robin Uthappa replaces Karun Nair in Karnataka Premier League

‘The Walking Assassin’ of India, Robin Uthappa is set to replace Karun Nair in Karnataka Premier League 2018. He was the key member of Indian National Team who won T20 World Cup in 2007.
Inclusion of Karun Nair
Karun Nair has been selected in the test squad for first three tests against England. He could not have featured in the tournament as the England series will kick off from August 1. He also featured in the unofficial four days test against England Lions.
Karun Nair was included in the one-off test against Afghanistan after one and half years. However, he could not make it into playing XI.
Launch of Karnataka Premier League
the launch of the seventh season of Karnataka Premier League took place in Bengaluru.
Vinay Mruthyunjaya, the spokesperson for the KSCA, while talking with media said,
“Robin has confirmed his participation in the player auctions. It is good for Karun Nair that he has been selected for Team India. It is fortunate for him and unfortunate for the KPL that he missed out”.
A brief description of his Highness
Robin Uthappa besides being the highest run scorer of 2014-15 Ranji Trophy. In 2018 IPL, he featured for Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2014 he set a world record by posting 40+ scores in 10 consecutive innings. The last time Robin Uthappa appeared in the Indian Team was in 2015.
Robin Uthappa in the last season of KPL
Robin Uthappa missed last season of Karnataka Premier League. Citing personal reasons, the 32-year old batsman shared a video message on his social profile. In the video, he explained the cause behind his absence.
“A lot of people are asking me why I am not playing in KPL. Sheetal and I are expecting the first one. And we are really excited about it. And season begins next month,” the Kolkata Knight Riders batsman had said in the video.
