India’s star opening batsman Rohit Sharma has revealed the best coach he has ever played under. Rohit has picked former Australian great Ricky Ponting as his best ever coach. Ponting coached the Mumbai Indians in the IPL from 2014 to 2016. Ponting was appointed as the new coach of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the IPL in 2018.
IPL 2020 was scheduled to start from March 29 this year but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the BCCI postponed it until April 15. The first game of this year’s tournament is scheduled to take place between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

In 2013, Ponting was captain of Mumbai Indians, but he stepped aside after halfway through the season and this allowed Rohit to take the mantle forward.
Rohit Sharma Names The Best Coach He Has Ever Played Under
“Very difficult to pick one name because they all bring something or the other to the table. But Ricky Ponting to me was magic. The way he handled the team when he was captain for the first half, and then gave it to me, it takes a lot of guts to do that,” Rohit said in a conversation with Kevin Pietersen on Instagram Live.

“After that as well, to be as involved as he was, as a member of the support staff, he was helping all the youngsters and guided mine through the captaincy. I got to learn a lot from him. He was a different ball game altogether,” he further added.
