It has been more than a decade since India’s historic triumph at the 2007 T20 World Cup. Not many had given the inexperienced outfit a chance to even progress far in the tournament let alone winning it. But the MS Dhoni-led side had defied all the odds to win the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup.
One of India’s finest performances in the tournament came in the semifinal against a star-studded Australian side. The Men in Blue came up with an all round effort to comprehensively beat the Aussies and march into the final where they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan.
Dhoni’s cheeky message for S Sreesanth:
Former India pacer S Sreesanth, who was one of the architects of India’s win in the tournament, recently revealed an interesting anecdote from the semifinal clash against Australia. The ex pacer revealed how MS Dhoni had fired him up before the clash with a cheeky message and it worked wonders for him as well as the team.
“Dhoni bhai ne bhi chadhaya tha uss match se pehle. Wo bole ki yaar tu idhar udhar aggression dikhata hai ab Australia ke khilaf dikha aggression. I think it was more of a chaavi wala thing and I got fired at the right time,” he said while speaking to Cow Corner Chronicles.
Well, S Sreesanth was at his aggressive best during the game. Who can forget his famous celebration after he castled a well set Matthew Hayden to put India on top. S Sreesanth had also dismissed the dangerous Adam Gilchrist in the match and had finished with impressive figures of 2 for 12. India had won the game by 15 runs after posting a mammoth total of 188.
