Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, commonly known as S Sreesanth, is ready to make his comeback into professional T20 cricket after a halt of 7 long years. Sreesanth was banned in 2013 as he was arrested on the charges of match-fixing during the IPL.

Sreesanth, along with his Rajasthan Royals teammates, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were served with life bans from the BCCI. However, after getting a clean chit from the court, Sreesanth’s life ban was reversed. In September, earlier this year, the 37-year-old has become eligible to play for the state and the country again, if picked.

S Sreesanth will be a part of the T20 Cup in Kerala:

Sajan K. Varghese, president of Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has confirmed that Sreesanth will play the domestic T20 Cup, and will be a big attraction. He said that all the players and staff members will stay in a hotel adhering to the bio-bubble rules.

Varghese is waiting for clearance from the Kerala government and is eyeing the first week of December to commence the tournament. The President also said that Dream 11, a fantasy platform that was the title sponsor of the IPL, will support the league where players from different age groups will participate.

Sajan K. Varghese, President of the KCA, was quoted by Sportstar, “Yes, definitely. Sreesanth will be an attraction. Every player will be in a bio-bubble in one hotel in Alappuzha. We are looking at the first week of December. The clearance from the Kerala government is the main thing.”

“With the support of Dream11, it is a league format that we have planned. All the teams, from different age groups, are from Kerala,” he added.

Sreesanth, who made his international debut in 2005, has picked 87 wickets in Tests and 75 wickets in ODIs. He was part of the victorious Indian team in the  2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, and the 2011 ODI World Cup in India.

Known for his hostile bowling spells and aggressive celebrations, the speedster has never shied away from any battle with the opposition- be it Matthew Hayden, Andre Symonds, or as a batsman against Andre Nel. The pacer played his last competitive game against Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2013. During his ban period from cricket, S Sreesanth plied his trade as an actor and a politician as well.
