India lost two quick wickets in the second session of the first innings after bowling out hosts South Africa for a 335 before lunch. Indian openers, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay started well but Rahul lost his wicket in the ninth over of the innings. Rahul played the ball straight back to Morne Morkel who took a superb catch in his follow through.
Next came in India’s most dependable batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara played an impressive innings in the first innings of the first Test and team India’s fans had high hopes from the marathon man in the Indian batting line up. However, Pujara scored his first golden duck in Test cricket in the first innings of the second Test.
Pujara played the ball straight towards debutant Lungi Ngidi who was fielding at mid-on position. Pujara called Murali Vijay for a quick single. Ngidi picked the ball and hit the stumps on the bounce. A desperately diving Pujara fell a yard short of the crease.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Pujara’s run out.
Suicidal run from Pujara first ball… This is what happens when you fill his head with that "intent" bullshit. #<!---->S<!---->A<!---->v<!---->I<!---->n<!---->d

What was Pujara doing there? Showing intent?

Funny thing is, Pujara is not the “I have to get off the mark quick” kind of guy. This was a firm drive, the fielder was well up, not an obvious run. I wonder if he thought this was “showing intent”?

Normally Pujara is very composed, loves batting. Rare misjudgment.

A rare instance when both teams' No. 3 batsman run out in the first innings – Amla and Pujara.
Only the 17th instance overall and first since 2010. #<!---->S<!---->A<!---->v<!---->I<!---->n<!---->d

Atleast let him play .
Was really disappointed after seeing Pujara's run-out.
Virat need to hit a daddy hundred here to keep hopes for team India in this test match.— Aneesh (@b20aneesh) J<!---->a<!---->n<!---->u<!---->a<!---->r<!---->y<!----> <!---->1<!---->4<!---->,<!----> <!---->2<!---->0<!---->1<!---->8
Did Pujara watch video of Usain Bolt before the days play ?

Cheteshwar Pujara involved in FIVE of the last SIX runout dismissals of Indians in Test cricket. (Pujara – 3 times, Pujara's partner – 2 times) #<!---->S<!---->A<!---->v<!---->I<!---->N<!---->D
