England seamer Stuart Broad finally found a place in the ongoing second Test in Manchester against the West Indies. England lost the first Test in Southampton by four wickets and much was attributed to Stuart Broad facing the axe, who is one of the most experienced pacemen and a monumental threat in English conditions. Ahead of the hosts’ most important day, Sachin Tendulkar has backed the veteran to come good.

Stuart Broad’s absence in the opening Test marked his first at home since 2012, which as 51 Tests without missing one. Instead, the English think-tank preferred express pacers like Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who could not create the sort of inroads England desired. Hence, ahead of the must-win game, the home side picked all fresh legs, overhauling their bowling attack. They left out Wood, James Anderson, and Archer to accommodate Broad, Chris Woakes, and Sam Curran that reaped the rewards.

The 139-Test veteran took the new ball and almost removed John Campbell in his opening over by coming round the wicket. It was very much reminiscent of the trouble he caused to David Warner during the 2019 Ashes series.

Broad delivered five threatening overs for 14 runs on the second day without a wicket while Woakes shared the new ball with him. Nevertheless, left-arm seamer Curran got the wicket of Campbell in his first over to leave the tourists trailing by 437 runs.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet for the 34-year-old said that there is spring in his walk and is out there with a point to prove. Following twin centuries from Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley alongside vital contributions from Jos Buttler and Dom Bess, England declared at 469-9. With rain forecasted on the third day, the hosts might have a mighty task at hand to keep their hopes of reclaiming the Wisden Trophy alive.
