That Shikhar Dhawan has been batting on a completely different level in the past two games, was once again proved to the hilt against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on Tuesday, as he notched up his fourth consecutive another 50+ score to lead Delhi Capitals charge.
Dhawan completed his 40th IPL fifty in just 28 balls and in the process he has now become the 5th batsman to score 5000 runs in the lucrative cash-rich league.
The southpaw has joined an elite list of cricketers which includes Virat Kohli (5759 runs), Suresh Raina (5368 runs), Rohit Sharma (5158), and David Warner (5037).
Meanwhile, Dhawan has also become the 6th batsman in the history of the cash-rich league to rack up 4 consecutive 50+ scores. He joins the likes of Virender Sehwag (5 for DC in 2012), Jos Buttler 5 for RR in 2018), David Warner (5 for SRH in 2019), Virat Kohli (4 for RCB in 2016), and Kane Williamson, who scored 4 50s for the SunRisers Hyderabad in 2018.
Dhawan is currently batting on a 43-ball 75, and with the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant back in the hut, the onus will be on the southpaw to take DC to a match-winning total.
