Indian limited-overs opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has opened up on the batsman he likes to watch between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Indian captain and limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma have fixed their spots across all formats through prolific run-scoring and are the bedrock of India’s batting line-up.

Not only in terms of run-scoring, but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also serve as inspirations for upcoming players due to their fielding efforts. With over 20000 runs across formats, Kohli has remained unstoppable and averages comfortably over 50 in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. While Rohit’s career turned around for the better in limited-overs cricket since 2013, the recent months have seen a surge in the form in Tests too.

According to Shikhar Dhawan, the pair has different styles of playing which works best for them and their side. Rohit takes his time in the beginning and its challenging to dislodge him after he gets set. As far as Virat goes, he continually keeps the scoreboard ticking by sprinting for the ones and twos actively. Dhawan mentioned that he feels fortunate to be part of the current era.

“Everyone is special and that’s how you create a team. Every individual is different. Individuality is very very important, that makes the team. Like Rohit, at the start, he takes his time and once he gets going, no one can beat him. On the other hand, Virat’s consistency and class, it’s amazing. I feel very lucky and grateful that I have been a part of this era.” Shikhar Dhawan stated as quoted by Times Now.

While in the present times of suspension of sporting activities, the cricketing brains are doing their best to resume it actively.

Like many other cricketers, Shikhar Dhawan is doing all he can to keep himself physically and mentally in the right shape. Hence, he is confident of performing to the best of his abilities when it all restarts.

“I am looking forward to that and I am preparing quite strongly for that. Mentally, I am already there, I visualize that I am already playing greats knocks, I am in great touch. That will help me when I go and play in reality. That’s the mental exercise that I apply. Once the government allows, we will go and play and you will see us winning lots of matches for India,” Shikhar Dhawan added.
