Shivam Dube made an indelible mark during the second T20I against West Indies at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The talented lad ended up as the top run-scorer for India by scoring a 30-ball 54. His candid knock included three fours and four sixes. While other batsmen failed to convert, Dube showcased his mettle.

Initially, he struggled to get going but once he scored a four and a six off Jason Holder’s bowling, he approached the game quite well as the game progressed. Special thanks to Indian captain Virat Kohli, who gave up his batting position only for the young all-rounder to shine at the highest level. After the end of the match, Shivam Dube credited Rohit Sharma for his important words of wisdom that helped him bat confidently.

Shivam Dube will become a good all-rounder for India: Bharat Arun

Meanwhile, India bowling coach Bharat Arun strongly believes that Shivam Dube has all the tools to become a productive all-rounder at the big stage as he keeps growing from strength to strength with each international game that he plays. This isn’t the first time that Shivam Dube impressed the fans. Earlier, he weaved the magic with the ball against Bangladesh.

“He (Dube) is an exciting prospect and I think he is gaining in confidence from every game. Even you if look at the way he came back the way after he bowled the first over (in Mumbai) against West Indies, I think that was creditable. For Virat (Kohi), to show faith in him after the first over and also for him to bowl a good spell after that. And I think he is an exciting talent for us. As he gains in confidence, he will become a good all-rounder,” India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun told reporters ahead of the first ODI against West Indies here on Sunday.

India beat West Indies by 2-1 in the T20I series and now the cricketing action shifts to the ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on December 15 (Sunday).
